Bye Brie & Meet the Teacher

Today we said goodbye to Brie as she left for BYU. It torrential downpoured as soon as we got to the airport at 5 am this morning. Not much hugging and time to think about what actually was going on. It was pretty much throw her out of the van at the terminal and on our way. Lucy has never really heard rain on the windows. That combined with our early morning departure did not make her a happy camper. Things will be so much different when the kids are off to school next week and we can get into a normal sort of schedule.

Uncle Eric picked Brie up in SLC! So glad she has family there.
Lu actually played in her bouncer this morning while I got a shower! Nice treat! 😊

Jungle Safari

Lucy has really enjoyed playing under her activity gym lately. She loves to spin herself around in circles to see everything over and over again. Today she enjoyed hitting her elephant over and over again to have it make its rattle sound.

To the Park We Go

Today, Sam had off of work. We tried to get a few things done around the house, but things always come up along the way. Not much got done. After last night’s adventure to the tire swing, the kids wanted to go again. Bad idea. I guess we will be taking less trips to the tire swing from here on.

These sleepy swaddled moments are not going to last much longer. 😢

One very motion sick Alex. He barely made it home.

Photography Issues

All I wanted was a picture of Brianna with Lucy. Brie wore this same little dress when she was a baby. If anyone wants to really know what it takes to get a remotely decent photo at our house, here you go :
The best we could get. 😉

Tricks in the Night

I sure love Lucy! But testing out her flipping skills through the middle of the night is leaving me feeling like a zombie! 💀 Hopefully soon, she will realize there are better hours of the day to do this.

S’mores with the Family

Tonight, we were able to re-test out our fire pit table. (The first night didn’t go as well. Somehow the wires caught on fire when we tried to light it. 😱) It was wonderful. Minus the mosquitoes!

    Lucy wasn’t very interested. 😆

Lucy Laughs!

We have seen it coming in the near future. Today was finally the day! We took Natalie, William, and Alex to the pool. Lucy was in a great mood. When we got home, Sam set her on the bench in her car seat. I went to get her out and she was in an incredibly chatty mood. As I lifted her out of her seat, it happened. A GIGGLE! Not her standard giggles lately, but the start of a laugh. So I started asking her if it was funny to get out of her seat and she actually started laughing. It was so cute. Now we know what she really thinks of her car seat. 😄 Next challenge will be to get her laugh on video. It is all about timing.

Laughing takes a lot out of a sweet baby!

Getting Bigger

Okay! At some point I have to let my little Lucy grow up. Things are hitting me that she is growing faster than I want her to, like having to remove the padding in her car seat, raise the shoulder straps, move up to size 2 diapers, and yes, even put away all the cute little newborn clothes she used to fit in. Today, my bad mom moment was while shopping for uniform pants with Natalie and Lucy. Natalie was trying on her pants, and I was playing with Lu in the mirror outside the dressing rooms. I noticed her bloomers were a little lower on her legs, so I pushed up the leg cuffs so they would be back on her upper thighs. Yeah, only then did I realize that they were not going any higher, and had already given her nice red indentions in her legs from the elastic. I immediately took them off and threw them in the diaper bag. 😳 She won’t be wearing those again!

Chubby thighs are cute on babies! 😉

Those Beautiful Lashes

Today was Brianna’s Going Away party. It is hard to believe that she will soon be on her own. We were all in a tizzy trying to get the house ready for all our guests. Luckily Lucy was an angel. We were able to get things all set up without much stress at all. (During the party it was so hard because she was so overstimulated, and it was too loud for her to go to sleep. I finally had to lock myself in my room at the end and stay nursing her to keep her from crying.) I took a few pictures of her before the party that captured Lu’s long eyelashes. Her eyebrows and lashes are so light, they are usually hard to see. They are there though. I’m still wondering what her final hair color will be if it ever does come in.
