What’s Changing in the World of Lu?…

…Well, a lot actually! Lucy is finally growing hair!

Not a ton, but hey, you have to start somewhere. Lucy’s eyes are finally starting to find their color too. As I was holding her today in the van, the sun was streaming in on her sweet little face. It made her eyes twinkle and I noticed the new brown little ring around her pupil.

No more gray eyes for this beautiful baby girl! Now I just wonder if the outer part will be a brown or a green color. Eyes are truly amazing! For our adventure today, I loaded Lucy into her car seat around 9:30 this morning to go to the mall.  She looked so incredibly cute and peaceful, I hated to squash her with her buckles. However, despite my hesitation to get her out and put her in her big stroller at the mall, I had to actually wake Lu up at 1:30 because she was STILL sleeping! I did all my shopping and she never knew anything happened! That was the longest nap she has ever taken! Too bad it wasn’t at home. Hopefully it does not ruin her nighttime sleep.

More Tricks in the Night

I was awakened somewhere between 3-4:00am by Lucy crying. I turned over in bed to find her sitting up next to me! Really!?? I was a bit stunned at the moment, but it doesn’t surprise me much now. She has gotten pretty good with her balance and the leaning over/getting back up thing. Today should be interesting though. I think it is her way of saying, “Tummy time isn’t happening with THIS little girl!” πŸ˜‚

Moving Backwards

Today was a totally crazy day! We had Thanksgiving lunch with both the boys:

Lucy did fabulous…  …but by the time William’s lunch was over, she was done! Poor William was such a trooper TRYING to get a picture with a screaming little sister. Oh well. I was able to get a pic of her in her cute little dress for Mrs. Brooke earlier. When we came home, we had 2 Cub Scout meetings, activity days, and mutual. All in a few short hours. It was wild. Lucy actually played for a bit on her tummy today though. She had fun spinning herself in a circle. However, when she would try to go after something she saw and wanted, she would go backwards, and of course get SO mad! Brianna did this exact same thing. Lu will get there. It just takes practice, practice, practice. πŸ˜‰

Swim Class Adventures

Last week we got an email from Lucy’s swim school letting us know that they would be filming this week and they wanted to see if Lucy would come and participate. I thought it would be fun, so we replied that she would be there. We rested up beforehand:

Not sure how well our attendance was received though. While most of the other babies were calm and content, Lucy was overly excited to be there and splashed everyone pretty much the entire time. 😳 I’m not sure she’ll be used for any shots, but at least she enjoyed herself. πŸ˜‚ She loved the water so much, she was even able to stay for her class afterwards. That was an entire hour in the pool! I Love this little girl! She cracks me up!

She got some great playtime in with a very jealous Khaliyah afterwards, and even tolerated a bit of tummy time to work on crawling. Not there yet, but close.
She loves her new Elmer rattle too. It was her “Thank you!” gift for helping splash everyone today. πŸ˜‚

Darn that Tummy Time

I am still trying to work with Lucy on tummy time. She usually just screams her head off the second she realizes she is on her tummy. Sometimes she will turn herself over, and other times she just lays her head down and screams. Today she seemed a little more tolerant. I  just keep trying to make sure she has plenty of distractions to help her not realize she is actually on her tummy.    For the most part, she would rather just sit and play. ☺️And then take her naps.

Mrs. Brooke’s Dress

Mrs. Shannon came over last week with a little surprise for Lu. She brought her a cute little sweater dress that Mrs. Brooke had given to her to give to Lucy. SUPER CUTE! I was so excited it was cool enough to wear it. I meant to get a picture of Lucy in it, while she was awake, but the day got away from me. πŸ˜•  I’ll make sure to the next time she wears it.

Picture Perfect Friday

Well, almost. Today started out VERY early. I think Lucy might have slept a total of 2-3 hours the entire night last night. Sam and I cannot figure out what the matter is with her. She is very happy through the day though. I guess that is something to be very grateful for. 😊 William was recognized today at school. He received the CAMP Music award. I am so proud of him! After Bulldog Boogie was over, Lucy and I went home to rest up before her pictures with Miss Jessica.   She looked SO sweet. I cannot wait to see how they turn out. Lucy was happy and content pretty much the entire time, she just wouldn’t smile. She wanted to check everything out. The kicker to the entire session was right at the end. Jessica was setting up a winter wonderland scene for Christmas mini sessions in the morning. She was going to have Lucy test it out ahead of time. I was commenting on how nervous I was about Lucy possibly peeing on the beautiful white set. Nope. She didn’t pee. She pooped all over me and the floor in the process of getting everything ready!πŸ˜‚ Literally right after I made the comment about her peeing! Jessica was so sweet about it. She helped to get her cleaned up as if nothing had ever happened. It takes a special person! Silly Lucy!

Forget Crawling!

Lucy HATES tummy time! I think she hates it more than any of the other kids. The only way she likes being on her tummy is at the pool. With that being said, she is not ever going to crawl. There is just no way! I know the importance of crawling, but a lot will have to change with her before she will stay down long enough to figure out how to crawl. I am thinking she might skip it and just go straight to walking.

She wants to stand up and take off so badly. When she sees little kids that walk, like Hadley across the street, her arms and legs get flailing, and she practically jumps out of your arms to get down. It will be interesting to see how the next couple of months play out. We ate lunch at school with Natalie today. Lucy slept through it right up to the end. When the doors opened and all the school kids came rushing out, her nap was over.
