Nothing is cuter than a little girl and her baby doll. Today, Lucy discovered Natalie’s Lilly doll sitting on the shelf in their closet. She was so excited seeing it, I had to get it down and show her. Lucy was in love!
Lucy was up again most of the night las night. I was so exhausted, I missed the entire first 2 hours of church. Feeling zombified is no fun. At least Lucy was a good girl during the time we were there. Natalie picked her outfit today. π
We made a horrific discovery as we were getting ready to leave for church however. We accidentally left the diaper bag, which contains my keys and wallet, not to mention all Lu’s diapers, at the tree farm in VAN ALSTYNE! 1 hour away! Ugh. After church I had to drive all the way out there to get it. I was so incredibly impressed how they handled the situation. The owner locked our bag in her home overnight, and when I came to get it, she personally walked it out to me and made me make sure it had everything still in it. She was so incredibly kind, and I am so grateful for that! When I got back home, we headed out for Waxahachie, to go to Bethlehem Revisited. This year we invited the Taylers to join us. We had a great time. The girls did remarkably well, given that it was probably one of the busiest years that we have been.
By the end, Lucy was not up for picture taking. We should have planned that better earlier.
Lucy likes to play this “game” with her toys now that I think is so funny to watch. She will have a toy that she doesn’t want to play with at the time that will be sitting right next to her. She will play with the toys she wants to play with, but continue to look back at the other toy still sitting next to her and STARE at it for a few moments, then go back to playing with her other toys again. It is absolutely hilarious to watch when you realize what she is doing. Tonight, she did it for over 10 minutes with this little horse.
She also played “lost and found” with her wash cloth while I took my shower. She would intentionally drop her wash cloth on her tummy, while she was sitting in her bouncer, then right away feel around for it and snatch it up to her mouth again. She did this over and over. Funny girl. It kept her happy though.
It has been a family tradition for years to cut down our Christmas tree at the local tree farms. We usually do it the weekend right after Thanksgiving. However, since it was raining so bad and cold this year, we waited a week. Lucy had a HORRIBLE night’s sleep. She would not let me or Sam lay her down at all. She would only sleep if we held her. Let’s just say it was a VERY LONG night! We ended up missing our Ward Christmas breakfast, so we just bought donuts and headed out to Wintergreen to hunt for our tree.
Little Miss looked just like a present ready for Christmas. π
The boys loved taking Lucy through the trees.
“Hey, aren’t we supposed to be looking for something?!”
The trees were all surprisingly really small this year. Usually we are telling the kids the trees won’t fit. We decided not to purchase a tree from the farm this year.
We did get some good pictures and had some fun before we left though.
We found a beautiful 9′ Frasier Fir at Home Depot. Since we didn’t cut it down at the tree farm, I made the boys saw off the bottom branches and fresh cut the trunk. Close enough to the real thing. π
I can’t wait to see it decorated.
Today I thought it would be fun to attend the City of Murphy’s Tree Lighting Celebration and Parade. I have seen it advertised before, but we have always forgotten about it. We really had a great time! There were live reindeer:
The Large City Tree (which Lucy was still asleep at):
Hat decorating:
So cute!
A walking parade (which handed out lots of treats!)
Marshmallow Roasting for S’mores
And the Tree all lit up. Lucy was hungry, and wanted nothing to do with it.
She enjoyed eating her first graham cracker though. (Bad Mom. π)
Now to find a new hat that actually goes on her head. π
Lucy slept in so late this morning. I thought for sure we were going to miss storytime. With McMillen Road closed due to the flooding, we really had to race to get to the library. Luckily we came in just as they started Baby Beluga. Lucy was so excited to be there. When we came home, Lucy crashed out again, which was a great thing because the rest of the day was crazy with church activities. (Typical Wednesday!)
Later in the evening, Lucy enjoyed playing with Alex.
He really knows how to make her smile! βΊοΈ
Today has been such a funny day. Lucy is a little crabby with her teeth coming in. However, a few things can really perk her up for a bit. 1. Singing her “If You’re Happy and You Know It!” She woke up around 9:30 this morning. Lately her morning diapers have weighed probably almost as much as she does. I usually like to change her immediately when she wakes up, but this morning she was screaming. I laid her on her changing table and started singing her song. She instantly stopped crying and got the sweetest expression of pure satisfaction on her face. It made my day! βΊοΈ 2.She LOVES swim class! She was very fussy off and on all morning. I was actually having second thoughts about even taking her. When I loaded her in the car she was a crying mess, but she fell asleep not long into the drive. When we got to Elmer, she woke up with a HUGE smile and kicking her arms and flinging her arms about. She knew right where we were and was very excited to be there. She did fabulous in her class, and when it was over, she had a full on conversation with her instructor, and the other class’s instructor as we attempted to leave the pool area. It was so funny! They were talking to her, and she had a lot to say back. I love this little girl so much!
I am so excited! Lucy’s 6 Month pictures turned out so cute!Β Β She was teething so bad, I am glad Jessica got some good ones.Β Β Β Lucy loved trying to eat her feet!
