The library has been one of our most visited places to cool off and have fun this summer. I’m pretty sure all the librarians know us by name at this point.
Lucy loves how they’ve added the Crocodile song to storytime. The crocodile puppet is the best!
Storytime would not be complete without a pet, hug, and kiss from Roger and Millie.
Today, Lucy tasted like Blueberry Strawberry Shortcake.
After Storytime, we headed to the Arboretum for Family Fun Day. Lucy loved trying to chase the squirrels to pet them. She wants to pet everything lately!

And snuggle with everything!
The boys were less amused with the animals, and just wanted to find a spot to cool off. It was HOT! The frog fountains have very poky rocks underneath them. The kids said it hurt their feet really bad to walk on them, so we headed to the Children’s Garden instead.

“There Are No Beaches in Texas!”
Well, actually that is not true. Just none that are exceptional in my opinion. We have visited Padre, and feel that it is the best one, but it still doesn’t compare with a real clear blue ocean view. The kids have been begging to go to the beach, so I searched around to try and find “a beach” at one of our local lakes, since even our not so nice salt water beaches are hours away. I found this great little park in Little Elm which made the kids’ day. Lots of sunshine. No icky mud or sticks stuck in your toes. And lots of fun!
The big kids jumped right in.
Lu was a bit apprehensive at first. But once she was in, she didn’t want to leave.

William was bound and determined to “surf” on his boogie board. Didn’t quite work out as planned.
Lucy wanted to make sure NO One interfered with her water hole.

Olaf in the sand.
The kids ALL loved the park attached to the lake! Zip lines and a safe merry go round made it a winner!
The main problem with playgrounds in Texas during the summer is that the plastic equipment gets sooooo hot it can burn you really quickly.
We had to use our towels to cool things off a bit.
To wrap up our day, it was Rita’s Italian Ice for our treat.
Pretty good Italian ice. Just wish the establishment was cleaner. Their custard was not the best, but the kids still enjoyed a cool summer treat.
It’s The Ark!
We had a play date this morning at a place called The Ark. None of us have ever been before. I didn’t even know it exsisited. It sure was a wonderful break from the heat. It has been so incredibly hot, doing anything outside is just plain miserable.
What a great little indoor playground to come to with buddies. Lucy had a blast climbing on the animals and scaling the ark. It was great for her to get little little kid time to play and be two.

An Afternoon at Sea Life Aquarium
Our mom’s group booked an afternoon at the Sea Life Aquarium today. I was a little hesitant to go because I was unsure of how good an Aquarium in a mall could really be. I was very impressed! I thought it was going to be very tiny and quick to go through, but that was not the case at all.
The displays were fabulous! Most everything was at a level Lucy could look right into.

Even some “made you a part of them!” It was great!
This tunnel was spectacular with many sharks and the very interesting guitar fish that kept scraping the glass.
We even had the fish swimming below our feet.

The big kids were such great helpers with Lucy. These are the moments that make me love my family so much, when everyone gets along and is kind to one another.❤️
The kids especially loved the touch tank. The water was freezing, but that didn’t bother them.

When we finished the Aquarium, the kids wanted to try the bungee trampoline. Usually I would say no, but they were all so good, they deserved something special.
They had a blast! William was too nervous to flip, but still loved it.
After all the day’s craziness, Lucy was exhausted! She fell asleep before I even got her buckled in her car seat. Just from heating up on the walk to the van, her poor little face and thighs started breaking out in hives again. The heat really makes them worse.
Later on, when she woke up, William let her help make cookies. He is the absolute BEST big brother ever! She is SOOOO very lucky to have him. He loves her to the moon and back!
Off to soak itchies in the tub! Hopefully these stop breaking out soon!
Ewww Yuck! Snakes!
Went went to Snake Encounters at the library this morning. I have to admit, I was not super excited to go, but I knew the kids would be.
It was actually very entertaining. (Even Bryce stayed enthralled. 😊)
Poor Stephen and Wesley got scared though, and made their mom take them home. I felt so very sad for them. Wesley was so scared she was shaking. Luckily it wasn’t as crowded as the Zoofari. They were able to sneak out easily.
We all learned a lot about different snakes, especially the ones to be cautious of in Texas. Also, this ball python amazed me at how docile it actually is.

Once the show was over, the little kids were dying to turn in their summer reading logs. I am having a hard time keeping up with all their reading! They are such book worms!
Next, it’s off to the aquarium!
Play Street Grand Opening
We were invited a few months ago to this special day of the Grand Opening of Allen’s Play Street. I was so nervous when Lucy got sick last week that we were going to have to miss it. Luckily, with a little antibiotics started on Friday, she has turned around so well and was able to go.
Poor Lu still looked horribly pale, but every bit of her spunk and sass was back.
She totally enjoyed making meals for the babies.
But best of all, she liked the ice cream truck, with her favorite play ice cream ever!

The Floam sure made some awesome snakes!

Too bad as we played, I noticed her breaking out in hives!
Yes, she is allergic to Omniceph. Back to the doctor we went to be switched to a different antibiotic. Hopefully this one will work as well to keep her better, but not make her SO itchy.
After such a wild past week, I was really having a horrible time. My great friend Brandi saved the day and had these amazing brownies special delivered. It made my day, and a lot of others’ too! We couldn’t appreciate it more!❤️
Homeschool Celebration
Today was our Homeschool Recognition Celebration at the Fowles’ house. We all got to honor our kids with what they accomplished this past year, both academically and character wise. Sam stayed home with Lu, since we are not sure if she is still contagious. I was sad they had to miss, but we didn’t want to share germs. The kids really did great this year. It was a learning year for us all with Lucy. But I look forward to what is ahead.
It is firework season in the Metroplex, and after we got home from the Fowles’, we were able to watch 2 firework shows from my bedroom window. Both Allen and Southfork had their tonight and it was a great end to a fabulous day. Even Lucy got to celebrate in the end. 😊
Sick, sick, sick!
Crazy to think we were in the doctor’s office yesterday for Alex’s ear, and then Lucy wakes up early this morning flaming hot with a 102.5 temperature. No wonder she was being such a pill yesterday! I feel super bad that Lucy played with Jada for almost the entire duration of the Relief Society activity last night. Hopefully she did not get her sick!

Rainy Day Trip to the Mall
It started raining really early this morning. Usually Monday is our morning swimming trip with friends, but we chickened out. I thought it would be really cold. (I was proven wrong later. 😏) We chose a trip to the mall instead.
Lucy fell in love with “Trooper Trooper” at the Lego Store.
She sure cracks me up with all her posing “Cheese” smiles! 🤣
We walked around quite a bit, but soon realized we had missed lunch. We headed to the food court. Of course it was Chick Fil-A for the kids. Afterwards, we took Lu to the Disney Store.
I think she could live here. She kept finding every nook and cranny to get herself into.
They have a cute little storytime that the kids all participated in. After it was over, they were given medals, and a passport book to put all their earned patches in.
After the Disney Store, we played in Pottery Barn Kids for a bit, then got a treat before we left. Lucy chose 5 gummy bears from Lolli & Pops. (A pretty cool vintage candy store!)
Natalie had a custard from Sonic, and William and I both got gelato. William was so surprised when he found this chocolate chip. He said it looked like a dolphin. He made me get a pic of it. 🤣 When we left the mall, we rushed home to go to the pool. It turns out, the pool was actually very warm. Today was a fabulous day!
