Got up this morning to see that the mountain tops above the house were covered in snow. Might not be anything super exciting to most people in Utah, but when you’re from Texas, it is a beautiful sight indeed! (At least for now. People keep telling us, “Just wait a few months and you’ll be sick of it!” We’ll see.)William had his tennis lesson this afternoon, so Lucy and I enjoyed a playground nearby. The sky was such a brilliant blue against the mountains and snow tops, I had to seize the moment to take some photos.Welcome Fall in Utah! 🙂

We haven’t seen rain in FOREVER! It has rained three times since we moved to Utah at the beginning of June. Today, I think we finally broke the dry spell. Lucy was beside herself with excitement. She quickly realized that she preferred not to get her clothes soaking wet and asked for her raincoat.She could have splashed in those puddles all day! Nothing is more special to a parent than to watch their child find pure joy in what everyone else takes for granted.

Lucy fell in love with a road kill possum at Cabella’s a few months ago. $20!!! for stuffed road kill! I said, “Absolutely not!!!” She threw the biggest fit on the floor of Cabella’s that I have ever seen her throw. Needless to say, we left her “dirty rat” at the store. I have not heard the end of it since. She has been asking for it for Christmas now. (And chocolate!) Well today, we went to Dollar Tree. What does she find? An actual rat from the Halloween section. She was so excited, she proceeded to jump up and down with it around the store. “I’ve found you, my dirty rat!” Yeah, I gave in. We bought the plastic squeaky rat. (Yeah, I’m a sucker like that. Especially when it’s only a $1.) She kept hugging it and held its hand across the street “so it would be safe.” And she made me cut the tag off of it “so it wouldn’t choke.” Oh boy! You can tell she has three bigger brothers! We need some major girl influence around here! 🤣

Now we have this new critter who she has named “Dirty” and declares that it is a girl to everyone who tries to call it a he. 🤣Little Miss Priss and her rat named Dirty! What are we going to do with her?!!
