Wild Wednesdays!

I despise Wednesdays lately! They are INSANE! We run from one thing to the next, from sunup to sundown. We will definitely be making some changes, come next semester, because our current setup is exhausting for us all.Lucy barely makes it into the van from school before she is out.Poor Khaliyah sees her crate more than she sees us.I am so grateful we did not have scouts today and were able to have a little bit of a play break. Lucy LOVES going over to the Gundersen’s. The kids are all so sweet to her and make her feel so welcomed. Today, she even took their phone.I truly appreciate Esther for being so patient with her, and letting her feel like a big kid. ☺️

Trick-or-Treat

Today was a very busy Halloween. I have been sad having some of the kids back at school because we are not able to do all the fun activities on holidays like we used to when they were all home. I made the best of it though, and had the boys help me get things ready for nighttime. They sometimes dread going out though, because people are always stopping us over Lucy. Today in the store, the demo lady kept following us around, taking pictures of Lucy with her cell phone. William kept saying it was so creepy. πŸ˜† We got out of there as fast as we could. We cooked our dinner in a pumpkin, which I have always wanted to try. It was FABULOUS!Nate dressed up like Marty McFly and was surprised to see his principal was Doc Brown.William has decided that it is more enjoyable for him to create his own costume, than to buy one. Sure makes it easy on me. 😊 So we had a zombie, a ninja, a ladybug, Marty McFly, and a lost BYU cheerleader. (We caught up with her later.)Lucy caught on to the whole trick-or-treating thing super fast. The boys were great helpers too. They realized you get lots more candy with a cute baby sister. Sam and I thought it was crazy that we are usually embarrasssed to take pictures of our kids trick or treating at peoples’ homes, yet this year, they were taking pictures of us. Crazy the way the world has changed with technology. Our favorite house was at the end of our street in the culdesac. Not only did they have amazing decorations……they also gave out fresh popped popcorn and fresh spun cotton candy. It was a hit for the entire neighborhood.Natalie went around with Sabrina again this year. I guess there comes a time when it isn’t “cool” to go around with your parents anymore. She sure swept up on candy though. The kids all had a blast and agreed it was one of the best years ever.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

We got to celebrate Grandma’s birthday a bit early this year. With Halloween on a Monday, it made better sense to celebrate the night before. We were excited because Annette and Wade came to visit with the kids too.Nate’s birthday is next weekend, so we sang to him also.Lucy was more interested in Grandma’s electronic cat……And her sink. πŸ˜‚All the excitement wore Lucy out!The big kids were more excited about Lucas. How could you not love that sweet little face?!When Lucy woke up from her nap, she got on her special Halloween jammies, in time to play with the cat a tad bit more, before it was time to head home for the night. Nattie is determined to make a flyer out of Lucy someday.

Festival Time of Year

This time of year gets so crazy busy! It seems like we go from one thing, to the next, to the next. After our pumpkin patch visit, our neighborhood had its annual fall festival. They really do such an amazing job at bringing the community together. I LOVE our neighborhood!Off to the party in style! πŸ˜‚ Lucy and I met everyone else there. Of course the big kids found their friends and were off.Luckily I managed to pin down Natalie and Sabrina for one picture. William ended up fishing at the lake with Isaac the whole time, only running over when they were low on treats.πŸ˜†Pumpkin decorating is a serious business.Lucy loved the bounce houses and had to try out every one. However, it is a pretty challenging feat just to walk normally as a ladybug. I think she was down, more than she was up.By the time we found the cake walk, no one else was at it. I was glad because it really had warmed up. Crazy Texas weather! Last year it was rainy cool by this point. They had a balloon artist and a face painter this year. I have to say they were both incredible! The lines for each were really long, so we just chose face painting. Lucy was mesmerized watching the artist work. When she was finished, Lucy didnt want to quit looking at herself in the mirror or give it back. πŸ˜†Afterwards, she had a great time chasing the boys. I think we are in trouble!Lucy has got the biggest crush on our bishop’s son. She gets all goofy and squeally when ever she sees him. It is the funniest thing to watch. Especially remembering that she is only 1!She saw Wesley from her car and seemed to melt into it at the sight of him. It was hilarious! We took a few more bounces for the day, then the party came to a close. Great job HOA!Lu enjoyed the walk home with Daddy, feeding the ducks, and eating the bread along the way. ☺️

Our Final Pumpkin Patch

Today was a pretty busy day. All the kids, except Alex and Lucy, had things going on. Since Alex wants to be a big boy, I decided to take Lucy to a little pumpkin patch just right for her age, and leave Alex home to do big kid things with Dad. Lately, Lucy has really not had much one on one time, or little kid time, since we have been so busy with school stuff. She definitely was due for it! Some friends told me about a very small pumpkin patch up north from us called Tucker Hill that I decided to try out. It was indeed very small, but it was just the right size for Lucy. We had a great time! She loved coloring with the chalk!Even on the pumpkins! 😧(We redirected ASAP!)Once she let me pry her away from drawing, we took a tractor ride. She will NOT look at the camera anymore for pictures! We have to catch her off guard. She really wanted to see the animals most of all! As soon as they finally opened the pen, there was no holding her back.I think we have another animal loving Hardy! We did have to have a discussion about not touching the animals’ bottoms. Poor little kids and animals. They are at the same height. 😝

Playgroup Halloween Carnival

Today was our playgroup carnival. Poor William and Alex are such good sports tagging along to the little kid activities lately. Lucy does not get much little kid time, so it has been really nice that she is having her time now.  They had a ping pong toss, bean bag pumpkin toss, spooky coloring, cupcake walk, guess the candies, Halloween bingo, mummy bowling, and a candy swap. Lucy lived getting candy the most! (It didn’t matter what the game was. πŸ˜‚)

Lucy thought she knew exactly how to bowl. Just stack your pumpkins! πŸ˜†She was so proud of heself. When we told her th throw the pumpkin, she started throwing everything. Silly girl. After all the fun, it was time for a good nap. Then Lucy helped make spooky surprises. She is quite the cook.Once our goodies finished, the boys really wanted to fish.

Lucy and I fed the geese while they did. I think Lucy ate more bread than she gave.

Carving Pumpkins

Today, we were actually able to carve our pumpkins! We have been meaning to, but have been side tracked with other things. The kids did a fabulous job. Other than breaking a few knives, it was wonderful. Even Lucy thoroughly enjoyed herself.😊“Want a kiss?!” ☺️William hates the feel of the gooey pumpkin on his hands, so he prefers “The Glove!”Lu loved scooping out one seed at a time. She stayed very occupied while everyone else carved. Our awesome results. And Brie’s pumpkin pic, all the way from UT. 😊

Spooky Storytime & Trunk or Treat 2016

Activities during this week are crazy! And they are only getting busier as we get closer to Halloween. Today we had our Spooky Storytime at the library.William was thrilled. πŸ˜†Brothers are crazy! ☺️Storytime was great! Everyone was so respectful and kind. We might be moving to these. They even had a puppet show. The rest of the activities were not as well organized, so we headed out to our Trunk or Treat a tad early. We did not know what to expect with our Trunk or Treat this year. Prior years we have had a chili cook off and trick or treating at cars. With our new ward, it was all new. We were not disappointed!Lucy caught on really fast that Halloween comes with LOTS of candy.

The cars were great! The youth had games for the kids that weren’t trick or treating. And best of all, Sister Blanch rocked the mic all night long. Everyone loved jamming to the classic monster jams!Alex had some totally amazing moves!πŸ˜‚Lucy’s night was not complete until she found Wesley. I think we are in trouble.
