Blankeys and Puffs

Lucy sure LOVES her blanket from Aunt Niki! She gets so excited when she sees it.     She loves to chew on a piece of it, bury her face in it, and go to sleep. My silly little girl. ☺️  Today Lucy found a new funny word. Anytime someone says, “Puff” she cracks up laughing. Not sure what it is, but we think it is so cute.

Happy Amazing 8 Month Birthday!

WOW! It seems like the last 2months have flown by so fast. Lucy has grown and matured so much. Her awareness of her surroundings is incredible. She doesn’t forget at thing! I have to remember if I go to the fridge with her now that she knows the whipped cream is in the door, and when it opens, she can grab it. It isn’t like she knows the goodness inside the container, but it must be the best container ever. πŸ˜‚ Lucy is really finding her independence too. She wants to do things HER way! When we walk to the bus stop each day, she wants to get down to walk when we get there. All is fine if she has shoes on, but shame on Mommy if I brought her only in socks and she can’t get down. Lucy will get very mad. She now prefers to stand to play. If I set her down on the floor, she will work her way to something to pull up on. Today, I put her down by her table and went to enter some things into the computer. No sooner do I sit down a few feet away from Lu, she has already tried to stand up against her table, lost her footing, and wiped out, scraping her forehead on the edge of the table on the way down. She sure has BIG plans. “Don’t mess with me standing, Mom! I’ve got this!” “Or maybe not……..!”   Her new “trick” the past few days has been to let go while standing to see what happens. She is really going to prove to us that she will NOT crawl, but walk instead. She thinks tummy time is for babies, and she is a BIG girl. πŸ˜• I hate when my babies want to grow up so fast! All her sweetness is going into her determination to see the world. Sometimes I can catch a few moments of the little baby still left in her. I am trying to grip that as much as I can. She is so silly. Lucy loves to make faces to get a reaction. She likes to growl now too, especially when I squeeze her, or when she wants attention. She still loves to smile at people when they acknowledge her, but has not gotten past her separation anxiety. We have been dealing with this since she was 3 months old. She is great with Daddy now, though, which is a huge improvement. It is so much nicer to walk around the house when Sam has her, without having to feel like I need to duck and hide to not be seen. Here are her 8 Month Tidbits: Weighs ? Is ?” Tall, Has 2 Teeth, Likes Mommy, Daddy, her Gigi Bunny, Storytime & Swim, to play peekaboo, bathtime, to eat paper, find all the fuzz and leaves in the carpet, & to be with the big kids. She Dislikes: Babyfood!, being put on her tummy, being taken away from Mommy. She still LOVES Piano Guys and her Smart Baby CD. Lucy can say “Mama”, “Dada”, “Bubba”, “Up”, and most recently “Hi.” Her only baby sign at this point is “Eat.” Happy 8 Month Birthday Lu! I love you so much! Please stop growing up so fast! You will never be a baby again. 😩

Perot Time with Mommy

We have these Perot Museum memberships that are not getting used since the kids are in school. I decided I would take Lucy today and go play in the Children’s Museum. We had so much fun.   Of course we HAD to play in the water first. Lucy is quite the splasher, so we had to make sure we were not near anyone else and to wear an apron. We still got pretty wet.   Lu didn’t care though. ☺️ She also loved the cityscape. She liked climbing up and down the bridges with all the big kids. She really enjoyed the mirror wall too. She loves looking at herself.   After all the excitement, she took a great nap! πŸ˜‰

Moms are Human Too

This morning I have to laugh. The past few nights have been utterly miserable! Lucy is not sleeping unless she is nursing or being held. I feel like a complete zombie. Nate came in as I was nursing Lucy this morning. (Of course the cat woke her up when she had finally fallen into a good sleep.πŸ˜•) He had overslept and wanted to see if I could bring him to school. I said sure and quickly got out of bed. I really needed to use the restroom, but knew Lucy was barely awake to just set down somewhere.  I contemplated bringing her into the bathroom with me, but decided to set her on the bathmat by the tub with a ball and her toothbrush. I left the door open to the bathroom so I could see her and talk to her. She was all smiles and talkative. I kept watching her and she looked crooked. I kept telling her, “Lucy, don’t lean over.” Yeah, I should have brought her in the bathroom with me to start with. By the third time I said don’t lean, she plunged over on the tile floor. I dove off the toilet towards her, catching her right as her head hit the floor. She is usually a very secure sitter, but an over full overnight diaper and a memory foam rug don’t make a good stable base for a baby’s bum. Luckily she was so happy to have me pick her up, I don’t think she even realized she bonked her head. Another one to go into my bad mom moments book. What can I say. I’m just human, trying to do the best I can as a mom. 😊

Pulling Up

Lucy has been pulling herself up on things for about a week and a half now. All is great if someone is standing there, but if not, she has not realized that falling from that high is easy for wobbly legs.  She just wants to be a big girl sooo bad!

Holiday in the Park

Today was Brie and Dallas’ last day here before heading back to Utah. We wanted to do something fun, so we thought we would try out Holiday in the Park at Six Flags. I was a little nervous since it has been fairly cold the past few days. Now that Lucy is feeling better, I didn’t want to be the cause of her getting sick again. We bundled her up in multiple layers.  She did FABULOUS! We had such a wonderful time.   Hiking in. Only snowed at Six Flags this year.   Natalie knew how to handle the curves.  Some good looking teens. πŸ˜‰  Our attempt at a 5 person selfie. Not bad! Loving our last moments with Brie.   We even got “snowed” on. 😊No, we didn’t actually spike the hot chocolate. Lucy just wanted to make sure we hadn’t missed a single drop!  While the big kids went for some more rides, we made silly faces in the warmth of Jonny Rockets.

MumMums

Yes, this is how we do MumMums.  For a kid that won’t eat, we are trying anything. Even if she just holds it in her mouth. πŸ˜‚  Lucy sure loves her Frozen car, and her Violet puppy too.

Ham and a Half

Can you say “Ham!” I think we have one! Lucy loves being silly and playing off of people’s reactions.      The more you laugh at her, the sillier she becomes.

Too bad my phone died right in the middle of this video. πŸ˜•

Darn Food!Β

Lucy will NOT eat solid food! It is as though you are poisoning her. If she allows you to put it in her mouth, she holds it there, gags, then usually spits it right out. We have now tried all the cereals, avacado, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and apples. She doesn’t like any of them! We even let her have MumMums, thinking it was a different way to eat and that she would like it. Nope! Today we just gave her the bowl of food and her spoon to see if it was a will power issue. Nope! She wouldn’t even put any of it in her mouth. It made for great finger painting though. πŸ˜‚ (And a Huge mess!) Got to say, for m easiest pregnancy by far, Lucy sure has made up by being the hardest infant. Silly girl. For now, I am just going to introduce something to her every day. Even if I get a bite in, at least it is something. Maybe she will begin to start preferring food over paper. πŸ˜‰
